Description

Lonicera xylosteum, commonly known as European Fly Honeysuckle, is a deciduous shrub native to parts of Europe and Asia. This versatile and hardy plant typically reaches heights of 3 to 10 feet (1 to 3 meters) and has a multi-stemmed growth habit. The leaves are simple, opposite, and dark green, providing an attractive backdrop to the shrub s small, tubular, cream-colored pale yellow flowers that appear in late spring to early summer. While the flowers are not as showy as some other honeysuckle species, they are sweetly scented and attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. Following the flowers, European Fly Honeysuckle produces small, red berries that are not typically consumed by humans but are a food source for birds. This honeysuckle is highly adaptable, thriving in various soil types and light conditions, from full sun to partial shade. Germination
